As a mother, spouse, and professional (Child Psychiatrist), I have been impressed with the valuable opportunities for growth that the martial arts experience has afforded my family (husband and two sons) and others who have chosen the disciplined training at Seo's National Karate. This school's positive learning environment strikes a good balance between being warm, friendly and family oriented yet structured with the expectation of strict adherence to oftentimes forgotten principles including self-discipline, mutual respect, perseverance, and integrity. The staff members are extremely well-versed in not only teaching the curriculum but also being attuned to individual student needs and strengths. The dedicated students can expect to become more physically fit, self-confident, and focused as they progress. Leadership opportunities are earned and encourages as students advance in their training. I have watched with amazement as youngsters (as well as adults) who perhaps lacked self-confidence and/or who were simply timid or reserved blossom as they were increasingly given the opportunity to demonstrate their emergent skills and become model leaders in the school.
Eight years ago when my husband started martial arts training together with our now 13 year old son, I began observing their classes with our infant son. Five years later, our youngest son excitedly enrolled in karate and has likewise physically and developmentally flourished in this environment. I have been repeatedly impressed that training with another family member (especially parent-child) allows for a unique, close bond, mutual goal-setting, and a built-in support network. I feel very fortunate that our family has found a highly regarded martial arts program led by an extraordinarily talented, highly principled and personable Master Instructor. Master Joe Seo has generously offered directly to our family, his other students, and staff members his wealth of knowledge, love for teaching, and high regard for personal goal-setting and achievement.
