Benjamin Keiser is a prime example of what the discipline of martial arts can do for a person. To see what a mature person he's grown into And hear other parents tell how happy they are to have him as a role model for their children really makes us proud.

Let us tell you how karate has helped. Ben had some trouble in Elementary school focusing on his work and behaving the way he should. Every teacher, starting with kindergarten, tried to help us work on this with him and encouraged us that he might need something more. His 3rd grade teacher told us he would probably "never do better than 'C' work and that's average, so it's okay." We didn't accept that as true, So we started him on Ritalin and karate. The Ritalin helped calm him Down and we're certain it helped him stay focused in his karate classes so he could learn the important principles being taught. He learned how to be disciplined in getting his work done and stay focused in class. His grades started improving. He went from C's and D's to mostly B's. By the end of 5th grade, he was even earning some A's.

Ben received his Black Belt in 6th grade and with it, confidence and perseverance. Middle school is a proving ground and Ben passed all tests. He didn't need to fight and even laughed at the kids who tried to pick on him. He had no trouble doing oral reports in front of his classes. One teacher commented that Ben was the only student who would come into class, open his book, and start working right away. He earned the first of many straight A's on his report cards. He asked if he could stop taking Ritalin in High School and we agreed, if he kept his grades up.

Ben is graduating 3rd in his class and has been accepted to Colorado School of Mines. Martial Arts continues to benefit him. He started teaching karate classes at 14 years old and the interaction with children and adults in a leadership position has been invaluable. Not only did he gain an enormous education from karate, but he got to learn how to give back in the same way he's received. These lessons will move on with him as he continues on in life. You cannot put a price on how much that is worth.
